In a pulsating final contest a succession of slabs from peg 30 saw Dick Turner bank a 37lb winning haul to take the Jan Pethick and Johnny Coney Memorial Trophy. With a hard fought winter league, five different anglers have held the lead at various times over the grueling winter calendar. However, DT's margin of victory was also enough to put the six points between him and his nearest rivals to take the overall Winter League title with two points to spare. Two carp of 8lbs and a couple of slabs taken on the tip from peg 18 gave Nathan Underwood a near 25lb bag, a winning catch on a normal Sunday but only good enough for second on the day. Mike Bowden also found the slabs taking a trio from the Second Basin to clinch third with a 10lb net. Title contender Simon Allen shared a section win with Ian Gray, with Adrian Hill and Simon Hockaday winning the other sections.
