Sunday 5th November - Brendon Arms Knockout Singles Final
It was the best display of fireworks you were going to see on Sunday as Tone Johns blasted his way to victory over Ryan Willshire in the Brendon Arms singles knockout final. With the final taking place in the Lower Basin, Tone found a good supply of skimmers with the odd slab mixed in to amass 20lbs from peg 19, and if that was not enough to worry Ryan, there was an 8lb carp banked for good measure for a final weight of over 28lbs. Ryan estimates his net to be around 4lbs, obviously chasing those bigger fish to try and catch the 'on fire' Mr Johns.
This was a hard fought and deserved victory after beating Si Allen and Tiscott Boys pairs partner Paul Braund in previous rounds. Not quite as big an upset as when David beat Goliath, but pretty close and deserves a picture (below).
