Fur and Feather - Sunday 13th December
With the water the colour of a cup of coffee it was not going to be a day for the punched bread. League Leader Simon Allen eventually found the slabs on pole fished worm and a succession of fish in the last here hours saw him easily take victory with a 20lb+ bag.
It was much closer further down the field and Nathan Underwood put together a bag of silvers from the 'section of death' or Second Basin as it is more commonly known, to take second spot by an ounce. It was a tie for third with Pete Horton (Lower Basin) and Len Hancock (Second Basin) netting 6lb 7ozs each, not a day to think about those missed bites or drop offs.
A solitary bream of 5lb 9ozs was enough to give Guy Pessel a creditable 4th place and section win for the Lower Basin, Mark Gratton took the section honours at the Bird Hide with a 5lb bag. We have to spare a thought for all those who drew the narrows, whilst it was thought the deep water would produce results only one fish was caught by Jean Bowden who won the section with 0.5 of an ounce.
