Persistent rain from start to finish ensured everyone ended up with a good soaking at the whistle in this traditional Summer league opener. The top weights all came from the Lower Wharf with ounces separating the top three who all fished the wag and mag against the far bank to good effect. Paul Willshire won by three ounces from Dick Turner with 10lb 14ozs and 10lb 11ozs respectively, Adrian Hill was not far behind in third with 10lb 4ozs. All the bags were made up largely of skimmer bream and roach with the odd rudd and small carp mixed in. Nathan Underwood secured the section from the Lower Wharf with a bag of skimmers for 9lbs 2ozs, all taken on the pole. It was a different story in the Upper Wharf where the fishing was slower and only two anglers breaking the 2lb mark, Tony Johns taking the section with a net of 2lb 14ozs on the pole from peg 26.
