BR Auto Spares Trophy: Summer League Round 9, Sunday 14th September:
This Wag 'n' Mag only contest always produces a close finish and Sunday's match was no exception. Peter Horton persevered on the distance waggler in the lower Basin to build up a creditable 14lb 8oz bag of silvers that saw him to victory. Just four ounces behind was Peter 'Tacker' Giles who fished the whip tight to the reeds on the bird hide section to take a number of silvers and crucians with a bonus 3lb carp for the runner up spot.
Jim Escott also found the silvers on the distance waggler in the Lower Basin but Jim was having more success on the caster than maggot and a 13lbs bag was enough to secure third spot.
You needed 11lbs + to win your section and these went to Ian Gray (Lower Basin), Dick Turner (Upper Basin) and Tony Hilias (Bird Hide).
The championship leaders did not feature today but it is still Simon Allen who has a very comfortable lead over Nathan Underwood going into the last round.
Next week its the Pairs, don't forget it is a later start 9.00am draw fishing 10am-3pm.
