The long walk towards Truscot’s Bridge in order to find pegs 60 and 58, did not hamper retirees Jim Elscott and Dennis Chapman who finished the day 1st and 2nd respectively.
Jim, who holidays in Bude every summer, fished squats over ground bait to take over 12lbs of bream to round off a successful visit to the town.
Dennis, who retired to Bude after holidaying there for many years, pole fished his way to over 6lbs of bream for a creditable second.
Brian Powel maintained his reputation as the comeback king with a 5lbs 9ozs bag of roach and skimmers taken on his trusty waggler rod from peg 32 in the Upper Wharf, easily enough to secure back to back podium finishes with third place.
