Sunday 13th February
The fishing on Bude Canal is still by no means fast and furious but the end of winter is in sight with some' double figure bags' appearing in Sundays contest. Fishing the Lower Basin and switching between the pole and the quivver tip throughout, Simon Hockerday out breamed Kevin Hill with an impressive haul of 14lbs that included 3 slab bream. Kevin, fishing two pegs away, stuck to his trusty waggler throughout the 5 hour contest but could only finish second, just 1lb off Simon's winning weight. The contest was not all about the Lower Basin with Simon Allen and Dick Turner picking up a slab bream appeace from the unfancied Upper Basin. At the whistle it was Simon who secured the remaining poidium spot beating Dick by only a few ounces.
1st Simon Hockerday 14lbs, 2nd Kevin Hill 13llbs, 3rd Simon Allen 6lbs, Section: Dick Turner
