Winter League Round 1, Sunday 13th October:
With the heavily colored water everyone was hoping for a red peg, and as the match unfolded the Lower Basin was the place to be. As is often the case the result was 'bookended' with the two end pegs in the section producing the biggest weights.
Rob Fuller's 10lb 1oz winning bag was helped by a 5lb 1oz slab off peg 19, just enough to keep in front of Dick Turner who had a late run of bream on the 11 meter pole, but ultimately fell 2ozs short with 9lbs 15ozs. Simon Allen placed third with a mixed bag of silvers off peg 15, many on the short pole and over 1lb in front of section winner Steve Whitehouse who bagged 7lbs off peg 18.
The second Basin saw a lot of fish brought to the scales but not very much in the way of quality. A couple of decent perch and a bonus eel gave Dave Allen on unfancied peg 29 the section win, being just 1oz shy of 5lbs.
