Winter League Round 1, Sunday 18th October:
It was a surprise that no big carp were not brought to the bank in Sundays competition. However, they were feeding with four fish lost between the top three and Tony Johns loosing two fish from peg 13 (or 'carp corner').
Shaun Stenton fished the long pole over ground bait and brought a succession of skimmers to the bank for a 13lb winning net from peg 33 in the Upper Basin. Shaun lost two carp, one just after the final whistle. Nathan Underwood used similar tactics in the Lower Basin, bagging small skimmers all day for a 10lb net and second place. Nathan came closest to landing a carp, losing a big fish after playing it for 20 minutes as it was coming to the net. Ady Larkins finished off the places with a 9lb bag of silvers and also lost a carp.
There were section wins for Peter Slade and Dave Allen respectively, both with bags of silvers. Adrian Hill netted a 1lb 5oz bonus roach in his 7lb bag of redfins.
