Winter League Round 1, Sunday 25th October:
With Second Basin failing in the last match, it was the turn of the Bird Hide section this Sunday with only a single 2oz roach showing between six anglers, enough to give Matt Sampson the section win. You know its winter when you have to draw a red peg to be in with a shout.
In the Bottom Basin Simon Allen needed a bonus 10lb carp taken on the light waggler to boost his weight to a winning one of 15lbs off peg 13. Dick Turner fishing hot peg 15 had found the skimmers and even with a bonus slab he could not make up the deficit of Simon's carp and so had to settle for second. Peg 20 produced again with an 8lbs bag of skimers and silvers for Steve Maynard to finish third. Len Hancock fished the tip and waggler to bag 6lbs of skimmers to take the Lower Basin section win.
To try and even things out and give everyone a chance the Sunday 8th November Match is being moved to the Rodds Bridge section.
