Sunday 25th November - Winter League Round 2
With the canal the colour of an expensive cup of coffee it was odds on that the worm baits and big fish would decide where the points would be going in round 2. It was the pole fished worm over groundbait that did the damage and on the day it was Dick Turner taking a succession of slabs and carp that amassed the winning weight of over 22lbs and saw him go top of the winter league. Dave Allen had a golden last hour but three quick slabs and an overall weight of 17lbs was not enough to catch DT. Ian Gray got off to a flyer with two slabs on the bank before anyone else had had a bite, but the momentum went away in the last hours and Ian slipped back to third spot. Simon Allen comfortably won the battle of the Upper Basin with 15lbs of slabs and place him second in the overall standings.
