Sunday 4th March
Fishing in a persistent gale blowing straight off the Atlantic Len Codlin managed to find the fish between the 'breakers', including the only slab to be landed on the day, to record his first win of the season with a 7lbs 10oz bag from peg 15. Bookmakers are no longer taking money on Simon Allen who is now odds on to win the winter league as he eased ten points clear of Adrian Hill with second spot on the day. Simon picked up a large number of small roach on the punch with a couple of skimmers and 1lb mirror on the waggler from peg 28. Ady Larkins had a mixed bag of roach, rudd, skimmers, perch, carp and a gudgeon from peg 30 to take the final podium placing. Ian Gray had a near 3lb bag of roach to take the Second Basin section win and Duncan Edwards took the Lower Basin section with 2lbs. Perhaps peeler crab was the option down there today!
