Simon Allen with a 31lbs Winning Haul of Slabs
With two sharp frosts the expected poor fishing on Sunday saw some major changes in the race for the Winter League title. Dave Allen lost a bream that proved costly as he blanked along with nine others and fell three places in the league. Meanwhile, Dave's son Simon was baggin on the slabs to romp home with a 31lb haul. The fish were taken on the feeder using breadflake and white boilee to tempt them out from under the boat moored on the far bank. Len Codlin backed up last weeks win with second place, landing a 4lb bream on the tip late on. Ady Larkins takes over at the top of the table after finishing third with a solitary 2lb carp taken early on in the contest. Duncan Edwards and Dick Turner were the only other anglers to catch on this cold and forgettable afternoon for all (except Simon). It looks set to be a charge to the line with five anglers in contention for the title, its set to be a classic end to the season.
