Summer League R6

Sunday 18th August- Summer League R6 - Martin Group Services Shield

With 20 anglers attending Sunday's competition the Bird Hide section was included and recieved with a mixed reception!  However, the visions of double figure bags for those drawing the bottom basin were dashed 'early doors' in what was the closest contest of this years summer campaign.

Birthday boy (a mere 77) Brian Powel continued his hot streak and made the most of end peg 34, keeping busy with small silvers on the short pole to bring 9lb 12ozs to the bank and open up an eleven point summer league lead.  Taking a break from the Tamar Lake scene, recent Feedermasters qualifier Ian Gray rang the changes off peg 33 and found 9lb 7ozs of silvers on pole and tip for second place.  Up at the Bird Hide Simon Allen attacked the 'bits' and brought 9lb 2ozs of small silvers to the net for well earned third place.

Meanwhile, it was more sedate in the Lower Basin,  but Tone Johns bucked the trend and found a few skimmers and silvers for just shy of 8lbs to win the section, there were also 'default' section wins for Paul Braund (5lb 6ozs Second Basin) and Dave Allen (5lb 15ozs Bird Hide).

With a recent lock-in perhaps peeler or sandeel should have been the chosen bait in the Lower Basin as DT banked the first bass recorded in a long while!
