Roach and Rudd Match
With the 'maggot drought' ongoing it was only a few anglers who had maggots or pinkies as a bait choice, the rest were trusting to bread, Hemp, sweetcorn and even rice!
Adrian Hill used his favoured punch bread to amass 3lb 10ozs of redfins from peg 17 which proved to be enough to win the competition on a day when no real silver bars showed. Pinkies were the the bait to be on in the second basin with Ian Gray pipping Andy Southey for second place, banking 2lb 8ozs and 2lb 7ozs respectively. It was the third match in a row that Ian had drawn 33 and the second Andy had drawn 29.
Paul Braund managed to net 35 roach on a combination of bread punch and hemp to win the Second Basin Section from peg 31 with 2lbs. Dick Turner netted 1lb 14ozs to win the Lower Basin section, taking a number or roach late in the match using dead reds.
With Brian Powel not fishing Andy Southey took full advantage and now leads the summer league by one point, with one contest to go.
