Paul Drissel Trophy

The Paul Drissel memorial trophy match saw a bumper turnout of 23 anglers and with still conditions everyone was secretly hoping to draw a red peg.  The match was settled with 30 minutes left when Paul Braund banked a 4lb 12oz slab from peg 18 to take his overall weight to 14lbs 5ozs.  Paul had also netted 9lb 3ozs of silvers using a combination of 7 meter pole and short whip throughout the day, but the bonus slab sealed the deal and won a bous bottle of rum for the largest bream donated in Driss's memory by Rob and the Team at Waterfront Shooting and Fishing.

Ryan Willshire made the most of end peg 35 with a 12lb 10z bag of skimmers and a couple of 2lb bream, just to prove its not all about the Bottom Basin. Steve Whitehouse fished sort and long pole off peg 16 to finish just three ounces behind Ryan to secure third spot.  Simon Allen took fourth place with 11lbs of skimmers (with one 1lb 12oz bream) off peg 28.

Section wins went to Steve Maynard (Lower Basin) with 9lbs 12ozs from what can often be a tricky peg 12, and Andy Southey with 6lbs 5ozs from the new peg 25.  It was good to see Mike Bowden back on the bank and even better to see him bank 7lb 8ozs of skimmers from peg 20 to take second in section for the Lower Basin.
