Pairs League Round 4

With the indifferent fishing conditions of late no one was sure what to expect other than good returns from pegs 33 to 35. In the end it was a tight finish with four teams picking up at the payout as there were ties for first and third places.
Not surprisingly the teams in first place had anglers on pegs 33 and 35, with Dave Allen winning the section from 35 with a brace of slabs and a 9lb haul. However, Shaun Stenton won the Lower Basin section with a near 8lb bag, helped by a bonus 5lb slab and with respective partners Simon Allen and Ian Croxton both finishing second, it was a tie for Me and My Boy, and the northern influenced Hey Up Lad.
In the frantic battle for league positions further down the order Pete Slade and Dick Turner found consistent form with reasonable bags of silvers, but a good result from Tony Johns backed up by a middling one from Paul Braund, saw the Tiscott Boys revival roll on, tying for third place.
With the Halwill Hustlers having a rare shocker (it could have been worse, a bonus 2lb 8oz eel saving the evening for Nathan Underwood as Ian Gray crashed out on hot peg 34) the overall outcome of the day was Me and My Boy opening a small 2.5 point league lead with the rest of the chasing pack compressing with the big five teams now within 3 points of each other. Its still all to fish for as we hit the half way stage.
