Pairs League Round 6
Sunday 29th July - Stu Bell Trophy
The dire weather forecast saw the lowest entry for some time with only 8 teams competing the Stu Bell Trophy. Not only was the weather a disappointment the poor fishing in the Stock pond (with three blanks) was also of concern.
The Lake competition was all about bagging the carp and Nathan Underwood found the most 'lumps' and weighed in with 27lbs from end peg 68. However, partner Ian Gray on end peg 1 in the Stock Pond blanked and the Hustlers had to settle for a share of third place with Me and My Boy.
Steve Whitehouse deliberately sat out for the big'uns and two fish on the pellet for nearly 16lbs, coupled with Simon Hockaday's 2lb of bits from the Pond (and 2nd place!) was enough for the Lynstone Lads to have a share of the victory. Adrian Hill could only manage 11lbs in the Lake but Peter Giles found a 5lb carp in the stock pond and that bonus winning point gave the Bude Bay Pirates a joint win and share of the magnificent trophy.
