Pairs League Round 8
The final match of the season saw the heavyweights slug it out with Me and My Boy delivering victory over the Halwill Hustlers on the day. However it was the Halwill Hustlers who won the league by a 1 point margin.
It turned into the Lower Basin show as all anglers struggled to catch bits in the Second Basin, demonstrated by a winning weight of 2lb 7ozs (5 fish from Nathan Underwood). Fishing for the 'eyes' did not really help, Paul Braund had 35 fish for 1lb 10zs, more fish than the first three anglers combined, but still ended up 5th!
Simon Allen kept it long in the Lower Basin but mixed it up with waggler, tip and 16 meter pole to put together his 13lbs winning bag. But is it enough to to give Me and My Boy the title? Adrian Hill did have some success on short pole from peg 20 and stand in partner Len Hancock eeked 2lbs of bits to give the Bude Bay Pirates third on the day, and third overall in the league.
