Summer League R1 2018

Summer League Round 1,  Monica Jones Cup, Sunday 20th May:

Just to set the record straight, 24 anglers fished the corresponding competition last year and banked 58lbs 4ozs of fish, two less fished this year and banked 84lbs 8ozs, so in my books that is an improvement.

In last years competition Ian Gray came stone last with 4ozs.  This year he turned the table on its head and won with over 7lbs of silvers, a 5lb carp and a 1lb bonus Perch, taken on long and short pole from peg 32.  Nathan Underwood was the only angler to consistently find the silvers from the Lower Basin, bagging 8lbs for 2nd.  Matt Sampson, who had been in competition at Larford the previous day,  bumped a number of quality fish and ended with 7lbs, including one slab, to round off the podium.  Fourth place went to Paul Braund who picked off the pits using the 8 meter whip for 6lbs.

Jack Crystal made his junior debut and smashed it with 2lbs 10ozs for the Junior win and 14th overall, beating 8 seniors from peg 19.

There were section wins for Kevin Hill (5lbs 11oz Lower Basin), helped by a 3lb monster eel, and Ian 'Cosmic' Croxton (5lbs 5oz Second Basin).  Runner up sections went to Jean Bowden and Simon Allen.
