Summer League Round 3, Sunday 10th June:
With the skimmers active in the shallower water it as no surprise that Nick 'Super Emmett' West cruised to victory with a 16lbs net of our slimy friends from the hotly fancied peg 34. Nick had the added bonus of £100 added to the payout as peg 34 was selected as the 'golden peg' for the match.
Ian Gray enhanced his lead in the Summer League, netting a bonus 9lb carp from the Bird Hide section to add to his silvers for a 13lbs second place haul. Steve Whitehouse found a couple of slabs among the skimmers to get his weight above 10lbs for third place. Nathan Underwood was also bagging the skimmers but could not quite break the 10lbs mark and had to settle for 4th place.
It was slower going in the Lower Basin where Dave Allen won the section with 7lbs of silvers, Dick Turner won the Second Basin with an 8lbs+ skimmer haul and the bird hide section was taken by Dean Ferris with a 7lb bag of Silvers thanks to Ian Gray finishing on the podium. Jack Crystal again saw off a number of Seniors (including me!) to win the junior section from a tough draw in the Lower Basin.
