Charity Match, Sunday 15th July:
Sticking out for the big'uns following a 10lb mirror carp from peg 33 in the opening 15 minutes proved the wrong decision for Paul Braund as Simon Allen off peg 14 slowly amassed 13lbs of silvers through the five hours to win the Charity Shield, relegating Braunders to runner up. The Lower Basin pegs then took the next five places with Peter Slade the best at 9lbs and enough for third place.
As this was a charity match there were no section prizes as such but Simon Hockaday (7lbs off 18) and Matt Sampson (5lbs off 26) took the honours in their respective sections.
A big thanks to everyone who contributed prizes. £116 was raised on the day and this will be added to via our event prize draws. Nominations for a charity will be welcomed by the Committee (just a reminder the Association has a principle of donating to local impact charitable organisations).
Please note that whilst the web site fixtures and distributed hard copy fixture lists are correct, there has been a fixture shift from the early distributed hard copy fixtures handed to match attendees in March. Sunday 29th July is the Stu Bell Pairs Trophy to be held at Whalesborough, the Falcon Cup will be held on the 5th August. This was to accommodate the request of the Town Council and plans for Bude Heritage Weekend that involved activity in the two Basins on the July 29th.
