Sunday 24th July 2022 - Falcon Cup
Matt Sampson followed up qualification for the Garbalino Feeder Master at Tamar Lake the previous day with an emphatic victory from favoured peg 35. Matt alternated between tip and short pole to bank 11lbs of skimmers to win the Falcon Cup. Dave Allen had also won his pairs knockout the previous day from peg 18 (knocking out London Tone), and whilst he did not match the 10lbs bag of Saturday, 6lb 12ozs of silvers was enough to see him into second place from the same peg. Despite the bustery conditions Paul Braund stuck to the 9 meter whip to net 4lb 13ozs of skimmers for what he hoped would be a default section, but happily finished third.
Andy Southy extended his lead at the top of the summer league after winning the Second Basin section (3lb 11ozs) and Simon Whitehouse completed a difficult day for most anglers with the Lower Basin section win (4lbs 10zs).
It was 'close but no cigar' for DT and Simon Allen on pegs 13 and 12 respectively who both lost a sizeable carp after lenghty battles, with fish and paddle boats!
