Summer League R8: Phyllis Turner Roach 'n' Rudd Only
It was one of the closest matches for years with only 6ozs seperating the top 5 as everone went in search of the ellusive roach and rudd. It was not a day for the silver bars though, with only a few of the larger roach showing. Steve Whitehouse fished the short pole to put together a 3lb 14oz winning bag using hemp and maggot off peg 18. It was tie for second on 3lb 9ozs with Adrian Hill fishing wag 'n' mag off 33 whilst Paul Braund used short pole punch bread and hemp tactics to bag 96 redfins. Just an ounce behind on 3lb 8ozs apiece Dick Turner and Tony Hillas tied for fourth and won thier respective sections.
Whilst the Reg Howard match typically atttracts a good attendance, with an 8 point lead, DT is sitting in the box seat to secure the summer league in a fortnight, its a lot tighter for second and third with a number of anglers in with a shout.
