Winter League Round 2, Sunday 2nd November:
Bream Master Nathan Underwood was back in baggin mood as his trusty 10 metre pole found a succession of skimmers and a welcome slab to ease into victory with a 12lbs+ bag from the Lower Basin. Len Hancock found a couple of slabs from the Second Basin but both fell to a waggler fished across to the far side rather than the usual pole. A number of skimmers on the pole and a few more bits on the waggler saw Len into his highest finish to date with a 10lb+ bag for the runner up spot. Simon Poynter fished a combination of long and short pole to take a near 10lb bag of silvers for third spot from peg 27 and move to the top of the Winter League table.
Tony Johns was only just off the pace with 9lbs of bits from the Bird Hide where the big bonus fish of the previous contests failed to show this time around. However, it was good enough for the section win. Simon Hockaday won the Second Basin section with a near 8lb bag of silvers and there was a tie between Dick Turner and Ian Gray in the Lower Basin, both just 2 ounces shy of 7lbs. No one dare ask if either had dropped any fish off swinging in!
