Sunday 21st January - Winter League R6
The impending storm sadly showed up for the last hour giving everyone a drenching. This made a very hard day for anyone drawing low number with pegs 1 to 12 blanking and only two lost carp (Len and Andy) to show for the effort.
Ryan Willshire managed to hold onto the long pole to win with an impressive 23lbs of slabs on the worm, even more impressive when you consider he caught just seven bream, the big slabs had obviously shoaled up for the winter off peg 16. Steve Whitehouse had the 'comfy peg' being out of the worst of the wind on peg 20 and he banked one good slab and some silvers on the long pole for a double figure bag and second spot. Dave Allen also kept on the long pole despite the conditions netting 8lbs 10ozs of bream for third off peg 17, 4ozs ahead of Paul Braund on adjacent peg 18 who whipped fished his way through the storm with a net of skimmers for the 'default' section win.
There was no winner of the other section although Andy Southey did have a carp scale to show for his efforts.
Lets hope the Second Basin is available for the next contest.
