Winter League R7 - Sunday 8th February
With the Second Basin frozen and only 16 fishing it was decided to peg both sides of the Lower Basin to give everyone a chance to catch. The decision paid off with good nets of silvers filling the top eight places. It was the middle pegs on the Wharf side that not unexpectedly fished the best. Alternating between the long and short pole with pinkies and maggot saw Simon Poynter home with over 13lbs of silvers, similar tactics netted Simon Allen 10lbs of Silvers for second and sandwiched between them, Dave Allen banked over 7lbs for third place. Anglers on the Wharf side also had the benefit of the sunshine for all but the last 15 minutes of the match!
Dick Turner won the Wharf section with a near 4lb bag whilst on the cooler shaded bank Ian Croxton won the section with 6lbs 9ozs.
It was not a good day for Nathan Underwood on end peg 10 (actually 13) with the Bream Master failing to charm the slabs and leaving it too late to roach bash on the punch. Nathan slipped to third place in the league with Simon Poynter moving up to second.
