It was a close call but a 5lb Bream half way through the match secured the Summer League title for Simon Allen. With the Second Basin not producing Paul Braund was making a challenge from the Lower Basin taking a succession of skimmers on worm, but his net of 8lbs was only good enough for fourth and he could not put enough anglers between him and Simon to make up the points deficit. On the Day it was the Lower Basin show with Dickie Turner romping to victory with a 30lb haul of slabs taken on the pole from peg 19, DT leapfrogged Sailor Hill to finish 6th in the overall rankings. Close by on peg 16 Kevin Hill could not keep up the slab count but finished a creditable 2nd bringing 19lbs to the scales. Ian Gray also found himself amongst the skimmers and slabs to finish third with 14lbs from peg 18.
