Winter League R6 - Sunday 18th January
This was winter fishing as we know it! Whilst you could say it was all in the draw, the old adage goes that you still need to catch em. It was not surprisingly the Lower Basin that filled the first four places with the deeper water paying dividends. It was pole fished worm that DT bagged up on as a succession of sizeable slabs to make up a winning bag of 25lbs from peg 14. One peg down on peg13 Jean Bowden was finding the fish but not the size DT was catching, but she still banked close on 12lbs for the runner up spot. The Bream Master himself Nathan Underwood charmed a few skimmers from the other end of the section on peg 19 to take third spot and move into second place in the Winter League standings.
Elsewhere it was a dire struggle for a few bits to avoid the blank. Kevin Hill did find a number of silvers and probably did not need the bonus small carp to win the section. It was much closer at the Bird Hide with Dave Allen winning the section by 2ozs from Tony Johns (all small fish).
The real winner was Simon Allen who was skiing in the Alps and retained his lead in the title race!!
