Sunday 25th February - Winter League R7

With dredging still ongoing the contest was split into three secions 1-4 (Sea Lock to overflow), 7- 15 (normal pegs 13 to 20) and 16 to 20 fishing the Wharf side.  The early torrential rain, buffeting winds and opening of the Sea Lock paddles all combined to make conditions very difficult and a numer of anglers ended up not weighing, but credit to everyone who gave it a go.

Matt Sampson tip fished worm throughout the day to bag a succession of bream (plus a bonus tench) for a 15lb winning bag from peg 3. Karl Yates on adjacent peg 2 did bag and 8lb 4oz carp on banded pellet, which boosted his overall weight to 9lb 14ozs, but ultimatly it was bream day with Karl having to settle for fourth place and a section win.  Two 12lb+ bream bags (plus some more bonus tench) saw Adrian Hill pip Simon Allen for second place by a 2oz margin, both bagging on the pole. A section win for Steve Whitehouse saw his position at the top of the league consolidated with two contests to go, and the final section win went the way of Mark Gratton with close on 7lbs of silvers.

It was great to see a numer of the recently stocked tench show, and whilst the results were not too bad, the inconsitent nature of the pegs and reports of decent roach catches at Rodds Bridge, will see the next match pegged in the narrows (weather dependant!).  Please check the website for updates on this. 

Please note that the Jan Pethick and Johnny Coney Match will now be held on Sunday 7th April  (not 31st March).  The last chance match will take place on Sunday 14th April.
