Pairs League R3
Sunday 5th June
It was peggy in both sections but it was the Middle Pound pegs towards Rodds Lock that produced the surprises. Two bream of dustbin lid poportions (6lb and 5lb13ozs) smashed the Middle Pound 5 hour match record and gave Steve Whitehouse an easy victory with 17lbs. Partner Jack Crystal was just off the pace in the Lake banking 19lbs 3ozs for second in section, but enough to see the Lystone Lads to victory and to the top of the Pairs League. Adrian Hill won the lake section with 20lb 13ozs but partner Mark Gratton was drawn high in Middle Pound and 3lb 1oz was only enough to get the Bude Bay Pirates home in second.
A mention to Matt Sampson who banked a near 10lbs of silvers from the Pound off peg 1 that included a good sized tench, so they are still in there.
The Tiscott Boys have found the consistency they were missing last year, but not at the end of the results sheet they would have wanted. There is still the Stu Bell Trophy though.
