Sunday 6th November - Wag n Mag

With the best catches of the season so far coming to net in the annual Wag n Mag it just goes to prove you don't need that groundbait after all! Whilst the weather gave us four seasons in one day, ending with winter and gale force winds, it was thankfully not slow on the fishing front (but as ever, a red peg would have been an advantage).

It was interesting to note that the fish had clearly moved from pegs 11 12 and 13 into the main basin and for the third match running it was a 20lb+ bag that was required to win with Adrian 'Sailor' Hill netting skimmers and silvers from peg 18 throughout the match. Matt Sampson finished second from peg 16 with just under 17lbs of skimmers followed by Andy Southey on peg 17 with just under 16lbs of skimmers.  There was certainly a Lower Basin theme to the top of the order but Dick Turner won the section in the Second Basin with 9lbs 10ozs which included a 5lbs 12oz slab.  Tony Johns took the section in the lower Basin with 12lbs 11ozs of skimmers and silvers.

You know ots been a bumper competition when you only pick up second in section with 10lbs and 9lbs but that exactly how it ended for Dave and Simon Allen respectively.
