Winter League Round 3, Sunday 15th November:
It was the first tough match of the winter as the fish were slow to respond to the bait going into the water. Many anglers in the Second Basin had to resort to single pinkie to eek out a few ounces with the lucky ones tempting a bonus skimmer.
Jim Escott bagged up with close on 7lbs of bits from fancied end peg 13 to win the match and a bonus £100 for being on the golden peg. Matt Sampson stuck it out on the pole in the Second Basin and was rewarded in the last 90 minutes with a brace of slabs for just over 6lbs and second place. Pete Slade moved to the top of the league with a 5lb bag from peg 14 that secured third spot.
There were section wins for Dick Turner and Jean Bowden which wrapped up a blustery and largely forgettable afternoon for most of the other anglers.
