Winter League Round 4, Sunday 28th November:
With gale force winds (but thankfully no rain) it was always going to be tough for the brave souls who entered the match. It was a day for the carp with our hard fighting friends featuring in all of the top four weights.
Nathan Underwood used the pop up boilee presented on the tip to land a couple of 6ish pounders to win the match, only adding a 2oz skimmer to his total net. Likewise Dave Allen only netted three fish for a second place weight of 11lbs. Dave caught on the tip and the pole, (interestingly Nathan had time to catch, bank and weigh one of his fish whilst Dave was still landing his on the pole).
The Bird Hide produced the other two carp with Dick Turner rounding off third place with a 6lb carp and Duncan Edwards bagging a 5lb fish for the section win. Tony Hilias and Steve Whitehouse both banked 3lb+ bream to win their respective sections.
It was hard on those fishing the punch and catching 30+ roach for under 2lbs and finishing nowhere, but what can I say, welcome to my world!
