The cold snap and heavy rain saw true winter conditions return to the canal with very few of the roach showing that had been a feature of earlier contests. Fortunately the larger bream were still feeding and Simon Hockaday certainly got in amongst them with a near 30lb haul of slabs from peg 17. Simon used the waggler changing from maggot and worm to catch steadily throughout the day. Simon Allen managed to tempt three slabs for a 15lbs net using the basic pole method from peg 27 in the Second Basin to easily finish in second spot. Dick Turner extended his lead at the top of the league taking a single bream and some welcome eels from peg 20 for 6lbs 10ozs for third. Last minute slabs for Ady Larkins and Tony Johns secured thier section wins on a day when four anglers blanked.
