Winter League Round 8: Sunday 27th February:
After a breakfast conference it was decided to give the Rodds Bridge section a go after Adrian Hill raised it as the 'Elephant in the Room' option, so we are all blaming Adrian for what followed!
With clearish water and a bright sun it was always going to be difficult and in the end only seven of the twleve anglers managed to catch. Matt Sampson was the only angler to find a few fish of over an ounce and won the match with 1lb 3ozs of bits. Everyone was effectively fishing for 'eyes' as that was all that was biting. Simon Allen finished second with over 40 fish for 11ozs and Adrian Hill third with 30 fish for 9ozs. It could have been different if Mark Gratton had not lost a skimmer due to the gusting wind at the net, he had to settle for a section win with 3ozs. The other section went to Paul Braund with 20 fish for 5ozs.
